WHAT'S THIS?

Life in this physical dimension is wondrous and extremely diverse.

The Wilhelmsburg Complaints Choir

Wilhelmsburg (a part of the German city of Hamburg) followed the examples of Helsinky and Birmingham, so now Germany also has a complaints choir.

My favorite is still the one from Helsinki, but this one is nice too, especially if you understand German.

A Feel-Good Video

There are a couple of videos and sites which I sometimes just visit because they just make me smile. I'll post a couple of these over the next days, here is the first one.

Magnificent Puppet Play

Besides splendid, the word magnificent means great which of course means big and hence it is exactly the right word for this puppet play. And it is amazing how about halfway through the video my perception of size shifted (like what was normal size and what was big or small).

Fearless Rabbit

I've been neglecting this blog a bit recently due to lack of spectacular insights to post here, so until I find something deep and meaningful to share with whoever reads this blog, I'll take Elias' advice from a recent session and will focus more on playfulness (but I'll keep trying to sneak in Elias catchphrases in an unobstrusive way).

Speaking of playfulness, I just found a video of a rabbit which implemented payfulness in quite a bold way.

Well, ever since Monty Python's movie Holy Grail it is well known that rabbits are deady and bloodthirsty creatures (movie scene).

One may have taken that as a typical exaggeration by Monty Python, but now a fearless and agressive rabbit has been spotted and filmed.

(Found on haha.nu (which is one of my favorite blogs, because I always find light and amusing stuff there to distract me from thinking deep thoughts :-))

The Power of Visuals

A user on our forum posted a snippet from an Elias Session today where Elias says that visuals are the most powerful sense to create perception. Just a few minutes later I generated a nice synch by finding an animation video on haha.nu which fits the topic on multiple levels.

I'm a great fan of animation movies so this gives me a great excuse to post it here (not that I need any) together with the opportunity to create some insight, especially because the movie is quite powerful (according to haha.nu it was nominated for the Oscar in 2002).

(Warning: some blood and violence involved.)

Duplicity or Humans vs. Animals

One of the core concepts of the Elias teachings is the belief system of duplicity, or more precisely truth in conjunction with duplicity, which essentially refers to the idea, that certain things are generally and always better than others. Faster is better than slower, stronger is better than weaker, etc.

Most people will probably agree to that in one degree or another, but if you do, you've got to admit that animals are better than you:

Lights and Animation

I'm still in a bit of a foul mood today because of the epidiascope, so I guess I'll practise a bit of distraction and appreciation a la Elias.

I'm a fan of animation videos and thanks to YouTube I'm finding more and more indie animations videos (although there are a couple of good ones from the big studios also). One of the best pieces of animation which I've ever seen is from Pixar. It is the bit before the actual movies where the studios show off their logos and where for Pixar the desk lamp hops into the picture, jumps up and down on the letter I and then looks at the audience.

If you can't fly, do it anyway

I just found this animation called Kiwi today and it left me quite thoughtful. Although the animation itself is technically not too thrilling (it appears to be a project from a computer art school), I like the idea and story and I'm sure it's a nice metaphor for something, it's just that I can't come up with a good one at the moment.

After watching the video I found two lighter (less thoughtful) ones, which are amazing and funny instead. One is about a penguin who lives as a pet in Japan and who goes shopping (no kidding): Shopping Penguin

The other is an excellent short animation movie by Dreamworks, featuring the real stars from the movie Madagascar, that is featuring the four penguins (in a way these penguins are to Madagascar what Scrat is to Ice Age): The Madagascar Penguins

The Cog

I recently posted videos to two Goldberg Machines and yesterday haha.nu (re)posted a video of an 2003 commercial for the Honda Accord, which is probably the most incredible Goldberg Machine you'll ever see. I remember that I watched it for ten times in a row when I first saw it a few years ago, all with my jaw dropped and eyes wide open in disbelief.

Alien Karaoke or "Why Can't We Be Friends"

Great animated short film named The Chubbchubbs by Eric Armstrong (5:27 min). The protagonist wants to be a show star and then discovers that first impressions are sometimes deceptive. Features many guests stars from other famous SciFi films. And don't miss the finale at the very end after the the credits.

Blind, But Able to "See"

This is another example of what humans are capable of when faced with limits. Ben Underwood who lost his eyes at the age of two. Since then he developed the amazing ability to "see" by making clicking noises and listen to the echo like bats do. He can do almost everything normal teeangers do, like walking down a street without help, participate in a pillow fight, play video games or skate on rollerblades. You really see the grace of his movements to fully appreciate his ability.

I especially like how his mother approached the handicap, which is probably for a large part responsible for the development of this unique trait.

Time Travel

Hooray! Another video of one of my favorite cartoon characters. Scrat from Ice Age finds a time machine! Makes me think twice about the benefits of time travel :-)

Goldberg Machines

Another entry for the crazy ideas category which features people or projects which are crazy or silly and which are implemented just for the fun of making them.

These two videos are about goldberg machines, which Wikipedia defines as any exceedingly complex apparatus that performs a very simple task in a very indirect and convoluted way. This definition may sort of apply to the first video, while the machines in the second don't even serve a purpose at all, except of course being implmented for the fun of implementing them.
